Become a member

There are 3 different types of memberships.

You want to use the Safe Blood Donation member database – blood matching, either as a donor and recipient (the default option in the “Type of membership” field), or only as a recipient if you cannot or do not wish to donate blood. The costs and membership options can be found in the next chapter, “Costs.”
You only want to donate blood, but not receive it. This option is free of charge. (In this case, select the second option in the “Type of membership” field: donate blood only)
You are a medical service provider, e.g. a clinic, doctor, therapist, insurance company or similar, and would like to offer your service on the website under Search for medical facilities. In this case, select the “medical partner” option. Every user of the website will be able to search for all your entries once you completed your registration and after it has been activated by our team.
If you wish to register as a personal member at the same time, please first select one of the first 2 membership options and complete the registration as a personal member. After that, still logged in, go back to the Become a member page, where you will now find the black button “I would also like to register as a medical partner”. Press it and fill in the fields.
You don’t want to become a member at all, but you think our cause is great and want to support us financially – then you will find all the info under donations.

COSTS PRIVATE PERSON

You can either transfer your membership fee every year (A), or opt for a lifetime membership (B), with a one-off payment (see below).

A) Annual membership fee:

The price for SafeBlood membership is 50 EUR/USD/CHF per year per adult member, charged per calendar year. Children and young people up to the age of 18 or still in education are free of charge.

Exception: USA:
If you are a resident of the USA, please take out a membership with SafeBlood USA on safeblood.com, our dedicated SafeBlood USA website. The monthly fee is $10/mo with a $40 sign up fee upon sign up. An annual renewal fee of $30 will be charged upon first anniversary, and this fee will be reduced by $10 per year until it is eliminated completely as a reward for your consistent membership. (Eg. $40, 30, 20, 10, 0). This includes additional services that SafeBlood can only offer in the USA.

Members of SafeBlood USA are also members of SafeBlood International and can request a donor in any country in which SafeBlood is active, but we request that USA residents sign up for membership and log in exclusively through safeblood.com.

If you only want to be a donor, you can receive a free membership as mentioned above. In this case, select “donate blood only”, fill in all required fields, and when you get to the “donor / recipient” field on the 2nd page, select “donor only”. After saving your entries, you are done – you just skip the payment and you are registered as a free member.

If you would like to become a member but can’t afford it, send us an email and apply for a free or reduced membership. We are aware that there are cases where this is necessary.

B) Lifelong membership:

With a one-time contribution of 1,000 EURO/USD/CHF, you are a member for life and do not need to worry about annual payments. If you choose this option, simply transfer the corresponding amount and state “Lifetime membership” as the reason for payment.

Special conditions: We only offer individual memberships (because we have to record all your blood-related data individually), but children and young people up to 18 years pay nothing. A family is therefore based on the contribution of the number of adults. However, we register you both as an individual and as a family when you register. You first register yourself, and after successfully saving your data, add other family members (under “Add family members”).

COSTS MEDICAL SERVICE PROVIDER / COMPANY

Medical Partner membership costs:

250 USD/EURO per year for clinics/hospitals
100 USD/EURO per year for therapists/doctors’ practices etc.
200 USD/EURO for insurance companies and other service providers.

As an introductory offer, we are currently offering a medical partner membership for the first year completely free of charge.

PROCEDURE

You fill out the form (on the PC on the right – on the cell phone further down) and then become a member immediately. You will be taken to the member area, where you can use the “edit” field to enter the other data required (on the computer on the right, on the cell phone below). Due to the nature of our business, these are quite extensive, but we guarantee full confidentiality. We will not share your data with anyone at any time. If you do not want to or cannot fill in some of the fields, just leave them blank. After the last field press “Save entry“. You will then return to the top of the page and go through all the fields again briefly. Finally (only if you register as a private person, not necessary for Medical Partner), at the very bottom, upload a copy of your ID card (on the computer) or take a photo (cell phone or tablet) and paste it – “Select File“, then “Upload File“. Once again “save entry” and you are done. Please note that it is sufficient to upload the first page of your ID card only. Your badge will be deleted again after validation by our staff, and instead of the badge you will see the word “validated” afterwards.
Clicking “back to the list” will take you back to “My blood donors and recepients“, the starting point, where you can either add family members or scroll all the way down to pay the membership fee via bank transfer or credit card.

We strongly recommend that you do not use your cell phone to register for membership, but at least a tablet, preferably a computer. It is much clearer and much easier there. Especially if you want to register a whole family you will appreciate this.

General Terms and Conditions

By registering as a member of SafeBlood Donation, I acknowledge the following:

I agree that my information may be used by SafeBlood Donation to find a suitable blood donor. In return, SafeBlood Donation agrees never to disclose this information to any third party. Names will only be revealed and communicated at the time a donor and recipient are matched in person.

In the case of a referral, the Safeblood system finds a suitable donor through the website and sends the recipient the contact details of 4-5 matches. The recipient then contacts them to arrange the process and location of the donation. I agree that in the event of a Safeblood referral, my contact information will be shared with the recipient and they may contact me directly.

I release potential donors, recipients, involved medical institutions and SafeBlood Donation as an intermediary from any liability.

I fill out all fields correctly when entering my information. I am aware that false information, especially regarding my vaccination status and personal details, is misleading and may result not only in immediate expulsion from the association, but also in criminal prosecution. It is as important to me as it is to any other potential recipient to have absolute certainty that only blood from unvaccinated members will be provided here.

I am aware that I can also subsequently update fields at any time to keep them current. For example, if I don’t know my blood type at the time of registration, I can still register and add it later. However, the functioning of the blood donor matching service relies on the correct indication of blood groups by all members, because this is the only way I can easily find a blood donor for my blood group at any time under “Find a blood donor”. Likewise, my address must be entered correctly for this purpose (street, no., postal code, city, state/district), country. Otherwise the operator system is not able to localize me.

During registration, after accepting these general conditions, I can choose to be a donor only, a recipient only or both (default). Not everyone wants to or can donate blood (for health reasons), but everyone is eligible to receive blood unless they choose the free “donor only” option.

I accept blood donors referred by SafeBlood Donation and in return (subject to health reasons) make myself available as a blood donor if I am also registered as a donor. If I am called upon to donate blood, if able to do so I will travel to the recipient’s location as quickly as possible within the bounds of what is possible and reasonable. I will not receive any compensation for this – but the recipient will cover the expenses.

After pressing “Register”, you will be taken to the next page where you can directly enter all other information about yourself (or your company, for Meidcal partners) that we need to complete your membership. For private individuals these are e.g. date of birth, address, phone number, blood group, whether you want to donate or receive blood or both, etc. – do not leave this page without filling in the mandatory fields. If this page does not load automatically, go to https://safeblood.net/en/profile/, click on the black “edit” button under “Data” and fill in.
You are not a member until you have completed the information on the next page by clicking “Save Entry”.
Entries with an empty “Date of birth” field will be deleted by the system within a week.
